DESPITE losing its two best players to local competitions and whispers of internal unrest over summer, Marcellin easily accounted for St Bernard's in their annual Anzac clash yesterday.

Young left-footer Cameron MacLaren, with six goals, was the star for the Eagles.

The victory moved Marcellin to top position, equal with Old Haileybury, which smashed an undermanned Old Trinity on Saturday.

Old Haileybury has not finished higher than third in A-section but is relishing the availability of former AFL players Paul Corrigan and Brett O'Farrell this season. Both were injured in 2004.

In the Eastern League, Keith Greig's son Matthew kicked seven goals as Vermont had a thumping win over East Ringwood. Noble Park restored some credibility with an 80-point win over Lilydale. Gavin Vassallo and David Velado kicked five goals each.

In the Diamond Valley League, Lionel Procter and Damien Yze (six goals) were the stars in Northcote Park's win over Eltham. Former Marcellin player Mark Browne snagged five majors as Montmorency ran all over Lower Plenty.

The game between Lalor and West Preston was called off in the last term when a brawl broke out between players and spectators.
